What Storm Damage Repair Includes
Storm calls come in three kinds. Hail dents the thin steel skin of the sections, and the question is whether the dents are cosmetic or have cracked a stile. Wind bows a closed door inward between the rollers, tears hinges, pulls the track off the jamb or lifts the door off the track entirely. Impact is the bumper, the snowblower or the falling branch: usually the bottom section, a bracket, a lift cable and the track on one side.

The sections are bent between the rollers, and every hinge along the bow is carrying load it was never meant to.

Door Hangs Crooked After the Wind
One side higher, a cable loose on its drum or a roller out of the track. That is an off-track repair, and the door is not safe to run.

Opener Strains, Stalls or Reverses
A bowed or dented door binds in the track, and the opener reads that as an obstruction. Forcing it strips the drive gear or folds the top section, which adds an opener repair and a second section to the claim.
Do not run the opener on a bowed, dented or off-track door. A car-struck bottom section often takes the bottom bracket with it, and the bracket is where the lift cable anchors under full spring tension.
